It looked to me like a tie debate. Kerry supporters will think he won, and Bush supporters will think he won.

The President came across as a bit more human, although at times he seemed unsure of where to go with his responses. Stayed too long on the same message over and over, saying it the same way. He needs to find different words to describe the "hard job" approach.

Kerry came across as a bit stiff at first but warmed up as the debate continued. He did an effective job of describing his nuanced position on Iraq. The academics will think he won, but I don't think your average voter will get it. He did come across as human during the interchange with Bush about his daughters about the campaign. Seemed genuinly sincere then.

Oh, one last thing. The moderator did a good job, although at one point he cut off the President when it looked like he was going to respond forcefully, then let Kerry answer a different approach to the question. After Kerry responded the time machine took time away from the President.

Overall I thought it was a tie. JMHO
