FREEMAN, MO -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 09/30/2004 -- Silicon Investor (www.siliconinvestor.com ) is proud to announce that it has successfully rolled out a new version of the award-winning market discussion site.
On Monday, September 27th, the new Silicon Investor was officially launched. It features a complete site re-design; a new quote, news, and charting package; new subscription pricing; and most importantly, a renewed focus on development and expansion of the community itself, including, for the first time in several years, the ability for people to participate in the award-winning discussions for free. The base is now built to develop some exciting features, and they're being rolled out on a daily basis.
Along with launching the new site, a long-time member of the site, Dave Lawrence, has joined the site as the Administrator for Silicon Investor.
Lawrence commented, "My SI experience began in 1996 soon after the site was founded. It's a pleasure to work with people who have demonstrated an understanding of the industry and the ability to create a successful business model in the discussion site space. We have 'reawakened' an active relationship between users and site administration/development, and the result will be many exciting enhancements in coming months, greatly enhancing our users' on-line experience."
Bob Zumbrunnen, President/CEO of Investors Hub, the company who acquired Silicon Investor from InfoSpace in May of 2003, is heading up programming and business development for both sites.
Zumbrunnen commented "After being laid off from a 4-year stint as Silicon Investor's Administrator, it was immensely gratifying to later buy the site, but this is even better. I've gone from Administrator to Programmer, and with the rollout of the new version, which I wrote entirely from scratch as a new message-board and business model, I'm looking forward to Silicon Investor joining Investors Hub in the exclusive club of strongly profitable dot-coms. We'll accomplish this by means of a new subscription model, increased traffic, strategic partnerships, and inclusion of better-performing advertising types."
Zumbrunnen commented further, "It's both amusing and gratifying that by always keeping an eye on program efficiency and tight control of bandwidth usage, we've gone from 9 over-worked and frequently failing machines that took a long time to deliver pages, to 2 underworked, stable machines that deliver pages at least 4 times faster than the old version."
Matt Brown, Founder and Site Administrator of Investors Hub, will remain focused on the Investors Hub community, but will also be involved in developing new concepts and igniting growth at both sites.
Brown commented, "With several hundred thousand registered members and combined pages views approaching 100 million per month, we are in a solid market position now with the acquisition of Silicon Investor to push online financial stock discussions to the next level and offer advertisers the most attractive userbase on the Internet. Message volumes continue to grow at both sites and it's clear we are now the premier sites for intelligent stock market discussions."
