Probably. If you were a baseball player or a frat boy or a sorority girl or a cowboy or a churchgoing Protestant, Bush would seem very different to you than if you were a Ph.D. academic in the social sciences on the tenure track.

When I see photos of the two men at, say, a small town restaurant, Kerry looks pained and shy, and the cashiers and busboys look wary, while Bush grins from ear to ear and the cashiers and busboys look dazzled.

Kerry, I am sure, behaves beautifully at cocktail parties.
