I kept dozing during the debate. I hadn't noticed just how pronounced those hand movements were until I saw more later when C-Span reran it. One time he had his arm fully extended in front of him and rather than pull back in a natural smooth movement, he made zigzagging motions with his hand as he pulled it back in. What was that all about? Had nothing to do with what he was saying. Another time he had both hands extended at his sides and when he drew them back in they fluttered by each other like he was trying to do shadowplay birds or something. Do they teach this stuff in rhetoric class?
