No, Paris was fine. Kerry wasn't even in Paris for that purpose, he was there on his honeymoon. He went to a briefing, as many people did. It was not a secret meeting, as O'Neill lies about. Itw as above board and legit. Paris was the neutral zone where the Vietnamese, people in the middle and Nixonites were negotiating for peace. This was partly because of the pressure leaders like Kerry put on Nixon. Let's be clear, even by 1968 Vietnam was a totally lost cause. By 1972, any man who died over there was a wasted life. Only Nixon's pride kept him from ending it sooner. That war went on at least 4 years too long and never should have gone beyond the Green Berets counter-guerilla warfare stages. Leaders like McNamara now admit this terrible mistake which cost 50,000 American lives and countless others. Back before LBJ we were actually winning that war. That was before LBJ's Halliburton (Brown and Root) got involved and made it big business. And before the Texans killed JFK. JFK never would have let it happen. McNamara makes that clear in "the Fog Of War".
