Umang Gupta and another founder of the company together still own 53% of Gupta/CenturaSoft, is that right? If it's true, and if the two founders are still reluctant to sell the company, a takeover by Microsoft or Computer Associates might be impossible. On the other hand, Gupta has *exactly* the front-end software tools for Microsoft SQL Server that Microsoft itself lacks. With only about 12 million shares outstanding and a takeover price of $12/share, Microsoft could/should acquire Gupta easily. Perhaps Bill Gates will make Umang Gupta an offer he can't refuse...
