The buck stopped with Bush, not Kerry. Bush knew better than Kerry what evidence was coming in from covert operatives in the field... none were finding any hard evidence, not an iota, that WMDs existed.
"After going into Iraq 300,000 were found in mass graves."
Make no mistake, I support deposing SH, but what was the rush for full out war. Bush is no Patton or Rommel or Dayan, no great military leader. He refused to accept that the evidence before him was steeering him away from the view that SH had WMDs, he saw a threat and couldn't stop seeing one. He kept saying to himself, SH has got to have WMDs, evidence be damned. And the people he surrounded himself with said and believed the same thing. The president committed himself to war before he had evidence that Iraq was a threat to America and he remained resolute to the bitter end, truth, evidence, whatever, made no never mind him, he wanted SH out, and that was that. |
