What do you base that on? he is not lazy. Certainly not his Senate career which has been his principle occupation the past 20 years. It is distinguished only by the number of votes he's missed. What's he been doing while he's been shirking his Senate duties?

In the Senate you are 1 in 100. You don't dictate anything. You work with other members. You do a lot of horse trading. If you are to be effective you have to find compromises to further your agenda.

If you are in the Senate for a long time, there is a lot of fertile ground for opponents to pick on what appears to be inconsistencies. The Clinton administration did a pretty good job of smearing Robert Dole with his Senate record.

The only measure of how well a person does, is if he is re-elected. If he is re-elected over time - he must be doing what his constituency is looking for. That is the only score card that counts. That is the ultimate scorecard.

If you are in the Senate long enough, you are going to miss a lot of votes. You learn how to pair your vote with someone else on the other side. Both of the Senators can then be absent, but the outcome of the vote will be the same as if you attended.

WRT attendance of Intelligence Committee meetings - the important ones are closed doors and nothing is revealed from those meetings - including attendance records.

I am not an expert on the workings of the legislative bodies. I have no way of really keeping score on how effective a Senator is - but I do know Karl Rove's record on how he frames opponents.

If you need to know Karl Rove's history and MO, I recommend that you read the (almost book length) article in the New Yorker magazine and the much shorter version in yesterday's Financial Times.

I think this election is very important and that we should all keep our minds open and really look at who is a better man to be President of the United States.

You really have nothing to lose if you keep an open mind. Only in this way will you have a chance to select the best man for the office of POTUS.
