kumar, Until you told me, I had no idea that lawyers were highjacking people that really wanted to become productive American citizens. Something should be done, but since the majority of the members of Congress are lawyers, nothing will be. I can understand rigorous testing before a person can become a naturalized citizen, but picking their pockets, like a common thief, is deplorable. I think that's a bit simplistic. No doubt there are shyster immigration lawyers who take advantage of immigrants who want to get U.S. citizenship, just as there are plenty of shyster personal injury lawyers who will sue McDonalds because their coffee is too hot and some fool spills it on her lap. The immigration laws are complex and hard to navigate, particularly for people who are foreign born and for whom English is a second language. Don't you think there is need for these people to have an advocate to help steer them through the maze to citizenship? ps - I'm not an immigration lawyer. <ggg>
