Help Thyself ...

Don,

<< the most remarkable thing I found in this forum was the level of rudeness in nearly every response. Do you people really act this way in public. >>

Perhaps you should ask yourself that question.

There was nothing wrong with your first post to this thread, although it would have been helpful to specify what version of Netscape you were working with and a bit more detail. That's pretty standard when seeking assistance. Failing that, there wasn't much for anyone here to work with on a problem that so far has been reported here by only one individual, but in an effort to assist, Ron immediately responded to you with a rather obvious starting point. Our admin host didn't respond on the first go round, but may have been catching a few winks or assisting others, or just awaiting a response to Ron's post which would have given him something to work with.

The clip below, however, is from your second post to this board, and I consider the speech to be unwarranted, even if you were frustrated. At the very least, it reflects a lack of comprehension of why a new Silicon Investor infrastructure has been put in place, to meet OUR future needs:

At a certain point, one has to wonder at the logic of completely messing up a system that has worked fine for years; changing all the bookmarked links, disrupting service, creating a buggy nightmare, etc..It's a lot like these managers who decide every item in the grocery store needs to be moved someplace else so customers will no longer be able to find the items they've been shopping for years. It makes everyone grumpy and serves no useful purpose. If it ain't broken, don't fix it!!! -

Here's your third post to this board:

By using IE, as I already explained, and which I don't like. IE is a sloooow, buggy, code hog, with more security problems than any browser ever made. Why aren't the halfwits writing code for the new site using open source that will work with something besides Microsmurf?

So there you were, calling individuals you need assistance from, "halfwits," and it took you two more days to advise that you were using Netscape 3 and Netscape 4, although Ron and others intuited you were using Netscape 4, and we still don't know specifically what version of either Netscape you are using, and therein lies the real key to resolving a code issue, or prioritizing a need to change code, if one exists.

... the most remarkable thing I found in this forum was the level of rudeness in nearly every response. Do you people really act this way in public.

Perhaps you should ask yourself that question ...

... and while you are at it you might do yourself a favor and download and acclimate yourself to a more up to date browser of your choice, or alternatively take your own advice and if you "run across a site that's too obnoxious to navigate, move on to something else." You won't "miss a thing going that route. For every site [you] skip, there are 30 more [you] can use hassle free" - although there may be fewer and fewer with each passing month ...

.... and please spare us the "Microsmurf" polemics. Netscape attempted to set de facto standards for web browsing. They failed. Miserably. Much to my chagrin, they screwed the pooch with that buggy browser you are clinging to. There is however, a credible current Netscape alternative to Microsoft's de facto standard version, and there is another from Mozilla, and another from Opera. There is also exceptional freeware available to protect yourself from your paranoias, not to mention option settings in all of your browsers to stay ahead of the malware artists.
