HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) _ U.S. Sen. John Kerry jumped to an 8 percentage-point lead following his first debate with President George Bush, but more people believe the president is better at fighting terrorism, according to a new poll.











Fifty percent of likely voters surveyed said they planned to vote for Kerry, the Democratic nominee, while 42 percent said they planned to vote for Bush, according to The Sunday Record of Bergen County. Independent Ralph Nader would earn 2 percent of the vote, while 6 percent of those polled said they were undecided, the newspaper reported.
