Pastimes : Charts on SI. Worth it?

I agree with Peter and others that better alternatives to the charts exist elsewhere. But I especially agree about the public portfolios' demise being very sad. No other site seemed to offer that in the way that SI did. I understand your point about cost centers needing to show revenue, but how much would it really cost to maintain at least the public portfolios? Further, I think your numbers on traffic to portfolio pages probably significantly underweights how much people used them, as most were attached to subjects and could be viewed without actually clicking on a portfolio link. Assuming this is true for the clients that cannot turn off the advertising, they may be more of a revenue generator than you think.

Also the preview option for posting seems to gone. That'll make all of us look a bit dumber, undermining the SI slogan about how smart we all are, because now all our spelling errors will be ruthlessly exposed.
