A little history:

Ho Chi Minh fought against 80 years of French colonialsm for Viet Nam's independence. Do you have a problem with that? Are you a supporter of French colonialism?

After the Geneva accords ended the French involvement and divided Viet Nam, Ngo Dinh Diem then took control of the South. When it came time for an election, Diem, sure that he would lose to Ho Chi Minh, held a rigged referendum and declared himself president of the republic of Vietnam. In December 1960 the north announced plans to 'liberate' the south with the formation of the National Liberation Front (known in the South as the Viet Cong). Meanwhile, unrest at Diem's tyrannical rule was boiling over into massive demonstrations and even acts of immolation by Buddhist monks. He was assassinated by his own troops in November 1963.

Now, what was America's interest in getting involved in Viet Nam, supporting a corrupt government? Ah, Ho Chi Mihn was communist. The same communist regime we have since bestowed "Most Favored Nation" trade status upon. Seems like Kerry had it right 20 years early.

Kerry referred to Ho Chi Minh as Vietnam's Geo Washington. He & Fonda are still extremely confused Americans who have a problem embracing the land of their birth.
