R.D., I don't think it's nonsense. Bush has created so MUCH enmity in Europe for his actions that they might actually stick their necks out for Kerry to try and ensure that no more right-wing whackos like Bush can get elected.

Allawi ISN'T a U.S. PUPPET?? The Iraqis themselves seem to think so. The Kurds and Sistani seem to be the keys to the election. If they back Allawi, then he's the guy we should go with. If they don't then we better be finding out WHO they would both support (that's not totally anti-U.S. and not a fundamentalist) and back THAT guy, but trying to ram our own guy (Allawi) down their throats if it's going to split the country apart would be a lousy policy and just MORE of this administations short-sidedness.

I know of ONE guy that wore a Kerry t-shirt to a Bush rally and got taken out in handcuffs. The same guy later went to a Kerry rally wearing a Bush t-shirt and wasn't bothered. I know that's kinda flimsy anecdotal evidence, but there has been a LOT of reports about how people have to jump through a LOT of hurdles just to be allowed to hear Bush speak and I think there's enough of those to go past the anecdotal to the confirmed.
