Mozilla's Firefox 1.0 PR

Ron,

<< I tried Mozilla's Firefox browser for a couple weeks in one computer, and liked it so much I installed it on two others. It loads fast, the tools are clear and straightforward. I still have Internet Explorer for occasional use when I go to one of those Microsoft websites where they make it hard to use other browsers. But 99% of the time, Firefox is the one and only browser I need. So far it has interfaced well with plugins too, and I run a bunch. >>

I recently downloaded the Preview Release importing my settings from IE6 to use as a 2nd browser. and I now use it as primary, even though I'm not fully acclimated to it, and only occasionally use IE6 as an alternate.

I loaded a beta version 4 to 6 months ago, and wasn't overly impressed, so uninstalled it. This one I like, and I'm pleased that in addition to supporting IE, that SpywareBlaster v3.2 provides protection for Mozilla/Firefox.

One of the things I like about it - and this relates to the recent change in the SI platform and UI - is the capability to quickly alter the size of text and objects on a page using a wheel mouse (or keyboard shortcuts) with the [Ctrl] key and wheel. Choice of settings is considerably more variable than the 5 available settings in IE6, and this works well in conjunction with the tabbed browsing feature.

I also have downloaded the Thunderbird e-mail client as a backup to Outlook Express (and a replacement for my Eudora backup client). I like the look and feel of it, but for some reason can't connect to my Comcast mail server, so need to puzzle that one out.

Firefox looks like a winner to me. Available here, for those that are interested:

Best,

- Eric -
