<<My dentist overcharged me last month. It called an error. Made by an accounting office, not the people providing the service. >>

I had that happen, 12 dental specialists in a clinic out sourcing the billing. $360, I paid half and insurance paid half but the insurance got a $90 discount for listing the clinic as a preferred provider of service. They kept billing me for the $90 and I kept writing back that I didn't owe the discount they gave the insurance company, state law. Third bill they threatened the collections crap.

I simply called the dentist, interupting his dinner, and told him the problem and he tells me to pay the $90. I mention going to the state insurance board and lets see, your clinic treats probably 20 people a day with the same insurance and probably most have paid the illegal fee. You will have fun with the state guys going through your billings for the past several years plus the $million plus you'll be writing in refund checks. Damn did I get a nice you don't owe letter. The worst part is if Joe 6 pack went in and paid cash, he wouldn't get the discount the insurance did.
