My favorite place was the Hardanger fyord. We drove around it and took a ferry or two. We stopped and bought fresh cherries and strawberries and hiked up the side, sometimes all the way to the ice. We only ran across a couple of tourists there, and they were from Findland and Denmark. It was very unspoiled and undeveloped.

It was an interesting contrast to a "Norway in a Nutshell" tour in which we sailed on a ship complete with casino and duty free shopping and a large crowd which had just hopped off the cruise ships for the the boat and rail circuit.
