Dave, the old format allowed one to see a recent stock quote whenever the user was reading messages for a particular stock thread. Now there is an extra step that would be totally unnecessary if the page were set up correctly.

There're really two issues at play here:

1. The definition of "correctly". To me, it's not always synonymous with "the way it's always been done". I really abhor clutter and am trying to keep each page, especially busy, often-hit pages like readmsg, as "clean" as possible. I don't want to add more than the minimum necessary to that page.

2. The cost of quotes. If I have the latest stock price display with each message, the cost will wipe out the bank account in a month or two.

I might, however, add a "Quote" link somewhere on readmsg if it doesn't detract too much from the cleanliness of the interface.
