They got to boot camp before someone believed them. Kerry had tried for a deferment to study in France .. got turned down. He then joined the Navy. Pepole did all kinds of crazy stuff to get out of Nam .. it wasn't just a note to get out. Kerry did more than just get out of Nam .. he got out of active duty ..
