Jim, by the way, here in Kah-LEE-fornia, Ah-nuld just vetoed another attempt at giving driver's licenses to illegal immigrants. Once again, these licenses would not be distinguishable from those for legal residents. I wonder why our state legislators even bother, given how popular Ah-nuld STILL is among Californians.

Meanwhile, there are no less than five hospitals in LA County that are closing their emergency services due to rising expenses. Some blame the state budget crunch, but others blame illegal immigrants for overwhelming the facilities. Of course, no one dares mention the latter, except a few local "whack" conservative talk radio hosts and their followers. Remember Prop 187 way back in 1994? I'm sure Ted does.

I'm still not for closing the borders and going into "Fortress America" mode, but neither do I have any illusions of being able to support the illegals without creating a noticeable drag on our system. Too bad many businesses are too addicted to low-cost labor. Can you blame them given how much it costs to hire regular workers here in CA?

P.S. - By the way, Jim, I noticed that in my last post to you, I called you "Kerry." My mistake. ;-)
