Hi Elroy, I don't like to profit from others' misfortune and, to be honest, shorting the USD does bring about a tinge of guilt that if enough people do so, it will in itself become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

So, what starts out as a few protective puts, a short on the USD, a few positions in bear funds, some calls on gold soon turns into hoping the US doesn't get hit with a major terrorist attack because you don't want those winnings that bad.

All the money in the world may not be able to buy security these days.

The funny thing is, there are some people shorting the market in the hopes there will be an attack opr some horrific event so they can make a bundle on their deep OTM puts etc. Isn't it amazing how an individual move to protect oneself, at the collective level, could be a major negative on the market?

Scary enough to think about. I'll shut up now otherwise I won't be able to sleep.
