Don't you think it is better to eliminate the source of hate and thereby eliminate the problem, than to try to remove the guns from everyone that hates you? The first option solves the problem of people wanting to shoot you, the second option just makes it harder for them to shoot you.

Iraq and WMD were low-hanging fruit. What you suggest is a much longer term item, and it would not do anything to prevent terrorists that already hate us from using some WMD in the mean time.

However, what are you suggesting we do to get these people to like us? Many of them just hate our culture completely and want to go back to living in caves under a strict religious system. They hate us for exposing their people to our culture, but how are we to prevent that?

I don't think you're going to be too successful with this track. I think it's more productive to take the weapons away.
