The one thing that the presidential debate taught me is that there really is two Americas. (I hope Edwards uses that theme in a strong way tonight) When it comes to the security of the Untited States, dems cannot talk the talk or walk the walk. The election is going to come down to which candidate is better suited to fight the WOT.....as many here have been saying all along.
The Bush lied, Bush mislead rhetoric isn't resonating with American voters, but it seems that is all dems have left in their arsenal. There is no excuse, short of calling President Bush a liar, they can use to disuade voters. American voters are intelligent enough to know what we face, and their much better informed than in past elections imo.
They also don't like the dirty politics of personal destruction we see being used primarily by top dem operatives. The tactics dems used in the past to tar republicans as enemies of senior citizens, blacks, animals, the environment, education, trees, health care ect have been suplanted by real enemies. They just don't see it that way. (I've had personal experience trying to argue this point)
I don't know how much more straight forward and forthcoming GWB could be. Dems don't care to understand the WOT in relistic terms, and Americans are not going to elect someone with that obvious lack of judgement.
