I think all 3Dfx was implying is that keeping texture data, z-buffer, etc. in main memory is slow even with the AGP. With memory about $3/meg this isn't a big price savings anyways for anything but very low end graphics boards.

I don't think AGP will be a big deal for 1-2 years, by which time it will just be standard on all PCs.
