No.

I said the poor have problems making ends meet because they are poor. That doesn't mean that their being poor is good, and it is not a comment at all about the poor getting poorer. Its an answer to your question "How come the working poor can't make ends meet?", more specifically its pointing out that the question is pretty much the same as saying "How come the poor are poor". Since poverty is measured in relative rather than absolute terms the statement then becomes something like "How come some people have a lot less money than others?"

I also said "The poverty level isn't skyrocketing."

I can't imagine how you can regard the statement "The poverty level isn't skyrocketing.", as being equivilent to "but the poor getting poorer isn't a bad thing, because they've always been poor anyway."
