During last week's debate, President Bush said, "I understand how hard it is. I get the casualty reports every day. I see on the TV screens how hard it is." But that's the problem. President Bush doesn't understand the "ground truth" of what's going on in Iraq, and the TV screen is as close as he's ever been to the reality of this war.

Last week, a group called RealVoices.org introduced a series of ads that brings this reality home -- with the voices of families who have lost sons or daughters in Iraq. We were especially touched by the statements of Cindy Sheehan, whose son Casey was killed on April 4th of this year. The interview is very difficult to watch, because the hurt and sense of betrayal is so real. But we think the American people need to hear what Cindy Sheehan has to say.

So we're now working to raise $2 million, to air Cindy Sheehan's ad in key battleground states, starting this Friday. With your help, millions of Americans will hear her story. To see the ad, and help out, go to:

We've attached the transcript of this heartbreaking interview at the right. This is a 60 second ad, which of course is more expensive. But we felt every word was important.

This interview is so emotional, we worried that it would be too much for members of the public to accept at face value. So we've shown the ad to hundreds of Americans of all walks of life, and found that Cindy Sheehan's words not only move people to tears, but that they move people on their view of the war, of the administration, and of President Bush.

But before we decided to air this ad in a big way, we talked to Ms. Sheehan to make sure that she understood how difficult the press attention she'd get from this could be. We were concerned that because the press covers everything as a horse race or a battle or a game, they wouldn't know how to deal with the honesty of this ad.

She's a very brave woman. She simply said, "They can't hurt me more than I've already been hurt."

If she's up for it, we are. Let's help Cindy Sheehan be heard.
