So you agree that the Iraq war was a colossal error in judgement -- because not nearly enough resources have been dedicated to do the job. And no plans exist to increase the resources.

a. No. b. I don't know that, and I don't know if more troops are even necessary now. What I read from the military blogs is rather positive, despite the security situation and the relentless doom-mongering of the media. The current plan is to train up the new Iraqi army and take back the Sunni triangle hotspots. Samarra was just retaken. Fallujah will be soon. I don't know if we even need more troops now. The American army is very skilled and does not need to rely on sheer numbers alone.

WWII the whole world was engaged in the war and countries outside the US were suffering a lot more from it. Now, largely as a result of the Bush administration moves, the US stands alone

A better comparison is between the US now and Britain in 1940, when Britain did damn well stand alone against the Nazis. Who was with them then? You could equally well say that as a result of their false moves - a decade of counter-productive appeasement - Britain stood alone, without the alliance of France, Russia or the United States.

Did that make them wrong?
