IE4 posting of that magazine story, Richard, encouraged me to give IE4 another try. Blocked from installing, though. The small setup file from Microsoft site abruptly stops and annouces that IE4 was not successfully installed and without explaining anything.

I notice also that Microsoft mentions that critical Windows files may be removed in the course of uninstalling IE4, should one want to do that. I suppose that explains my earlier experience.

Anyone have ideas on what's holding up the IE4 setup?
