It has been investigated. For many years it was considered purely a psychological issue for men, resulting from an overly dominant mother. Then, we found differences in hormone levels that had a physical influence on some males and their physical sexual development. Then we found some males who came from a typical traditional family but were sexualized by some guy at an early age. There are also dismissive explanations about being born gay. There are quite a few examples that defy any explanation. I see no reason for scientists to stop investigationg anything that is researchable from any discipline. That is how you earn a PhD.

However, what we are left with is little more than our personal opinions about it. Mine is that some people are gay...period.

The cause is less important to me than what we do as gay or non-gay people to live in decency among one another. I don't like the 'if it feels good do it and its no body's business' mentality. Society carries the burden for feel gooders when it results in social ills, and there almost always are with this group. When couples (straight or gay) cheat on each other the significant others in their culture pay a price... children are tramatized, lives and careers are destructively changed, personal financial stability is destroyed, people's emotional stability is put at risk. There are dozens of ways it puts our society at risk. For example, a child being raised by a single parent who has no means of support, places a serious burden on society. The likelyhood that this child will multiply the effects by repeating the problem or becoming criminal is significant. This is no longer the rare exception in our society. In only a couple of decades it has become more common than uncommon. And this is only one example of what I attribute largely to the 'feel gooders'.

Your conduct is your business. Where it has an impact on me, others, and society at large, it is also my business. I expect you to take responsibility for your own bad conduct. When you don't, I will be judging you for your irresponsibility and asking society to apply sanctions, as all of us should (excepting Suma of course).
