The media did an independent (meaning, leftward-biased) re-count, and came to the conclusion that if the Florida recount HAD taken place, Bush still would have won.

In such a close election, as one would expect, there are folks on both sides claiming that a recount would have favored Gore and alternately Bush. I don't think it matters anymore. But it was shown that the election process in Florida was flawed. Now we will have electronic voting with no paper trail at all...that will solve the problem...NOT!

The butterfly ballot challengers got egg on their face when it came to light that it was designed by democrats, not republicans.

Actually the gal that designed that ballot has switched parties. Doesn't matter what party she was in or is in now. The fact remains that the ballot was poorly designed and resulted in thousandes of mis-votes.

The tales and accusations of voter intimidation haven't resulted in any substantiated claims.

Many people have come forward telling their story of intimidation. And this of course does not include the thousands of Blacks that were purged from the voter rolls for being felons...when they committed no crimes. That same purge list was being revved up again for the 2004 election, when it was pointed out that there was a huge imbalance between black voters which traditionally vote democrat and Latino voters which vote republican in Florida.

The only thing irregular about Florida's election in 2000 was that Dan Rather and the leftist media called it for Gore early, so a lot of Republican voters in the panhandle didn't vote and make Bush's margin of victory even larger.

The only irregularity? You must be joking! Besides if Rather (and the rest of the media) initially called the vote for Gore, then that would have kept Gore voters in the panhandle from voting in about equal number too, right?

What happened in Florida showed us all how many dirty tricks go on in elections. All Americans have a stake in making sure that elections are fair and most importantly verifiable. Electronic voting cannot be trusted unless there is a verifiable paper trail.
