USA Technologies (USTT) announced a large contract for their "smart" vending machines. SUNW is involved with providing the JAVA software component that allows these machines to (1) provide customer wireless transactions and (2) allow the service account administrator to monitor merchandise inventories in the machines linked into the network. It's an emerging industry and USTT is a very small company but it's an area to watch as SUNW and perhaps Nokia are the only companies pursuing this business.
