The main problem with selling options is the margin requirements. One must put up in the margin account 1/3 of the value of the underling stock. That is while the pros can do it and the average investors can not.

What I do is have other securities, in my margin account so that I do not have to come up with the money. All my securities are in a margin account so that I can do the options with out worrying about margin calls.
