To steve from Mish on Steelcase furniture... >>Where the H is Steve with the updated Steelcase report?<< From Steve business sux. the daily need for 50 installers we saw last spring is long gone. for most of this week, we've had no temps on the job, and half a dozen of our own installers doing busywork in the warehouse instead of on job sites. even our repair work is way down. i used to be able to keep both service techs busy every week and usually had service booked out a week or more in advance...now i'm trolling around for one man deliveries to fill out the day for 1 service van. the saver this week has been a couple of service advisories from Steelcase to replace screws in some chairs and conference tables. conversely, my inbound network backlog (furniture sold by dealers in other cities for installation in Detroit) is the highest it's been all year, but our own customers, most of which are dependant on the auto industry aren't buying squat.
