You don't have to be attracted to them, but I see absolutely no point in your coming in and stating you want to be banned. If I want to get a good view of the other side, I'll read some literate and intelligent right winger who managed to get published in some reputable journal (and has an editor managing him) reading some guy on the net telling me his opinion of what I could read on my own, doesn't do it for me, and has no attraction for me. And readong right wingers criticizing this forum or its moderation when some right wing forums are cesspools strikes me as not only hypocritical, it's just stupid.
If my post to you, and your post to me, are examples of this great "exchange" that goes on when people differ, I'm not sure it's very worthwhile. I can't imagine I'm changing your mind, and you certainly don't change mine- I'm familiar with all your points already, so what is gained? At least if I'm talking with someone I agree with, we can get down to nuance- these posts of yours and mine just illustrate my point, which is there really is no point in talking with people whom you completely disagree with.
It makes sense to listen to EDUCATED voices on all sides, and I read the Neocons in print, how else would I know how wrongheaded they are? But interacting with them? No point. Nothing changes, and noses inevitably get bent- and even when they don't, what's the point in restating and restating positions? I don't see it.
