What I read from the military blogs is rather positive

I don't think military blogs have much credibility. Critisizing publicly the strategy of their employer and commader in chief is not very likely, since it will hurt their careers. Critics of their companies in the corporate world are called whistleblowers, and are very few. The situation in our professional army is similar.
