I wasn't even thinking of this as a right/left issue,
I was just astonded by the fact that anyone with
even a high school education could think that
the constitution forbids a church from telliing someone
how to vote, let alone commenting on political issues.

AS only switched to the tax exempt issue after Top Cat
kindly mentioned it, but that's not what the discussion
was about. (There are plenty of not-for-profits in this
country who frankly don't deserve to keep their tax exempt status.)

AS was focused on the constitution and notions of separation of church and state, the last terms
not even appearing in the constitution.

Kinda shows why conservatives distrust liberal
judges, doesn't it?

That ole constitution just says whatever they want it to...<g>
