Seriously - The way I see underwater diving, you can't smell, you can't touch, you can't hear. So the "magic" is all in seeing stuff. I get the magic of seeing the underwater on TV all the time. No need to get into wetsuits to which previous occupants' body hair still cling, and no need to gag on some plastic hose that has seen thank you very much :-)

Skiing is the most hastle-ridden sport I do, and if there was a way to get that experience without carrying those skis for hundreds of meters, with your feet squashed in insane angles into those boots, while freezing your bum on the telesiege on your way up the slope, you bet I would never ski again... But I do, because the thrill of skiing down a slope can't be replicated from the comfort of one's home. Not so with diving (I think) :-)
