FWIW, it's not a pure oxygen mix, just ordinary atmosphere compressed into the tank. That's why the "bends" from nitrogen bubbles can be a danger if you are down too long and come up too fast without pausing for the nitrogen to work itself out.

Enough on this - it's one of those things, if you don't get it then you don't get it. My quirk is, I hope to go through life without ever swinging a golf club outside a miniature golf course.
