Dennis(OTHER RAINers please read this post),
Back from Dis World RAIN. Had lunch there today, stopping a little after 1pm, and would have been just about 1 hr. wait had it not been for the coupon...thanks again for the reminder, Dennis. Was crowded in retail store and restaurant at arrival and at departure. All employees were friendly and seemed to be excited and really selling RAIN, in store and restaurant. Spoke with manager, and was told usual weekday wait at dinner is 1and 1/4 to 1 and 1/2 hours, with weekend being 2 to 3 hours typically. Remember, this is soft opening...grand opening(VIP) is for tomorrow. All billboards and signs on I-4 mentioned DW, Disney Village(location of RAIN), and Planet Hollywood, but no ads for RAIN yet. Even on roads approaching the complex, there were no signs for it. However, after you're already at Disney Village and walking around, you'll see a few signs pointing where to find RAIN, with note next to it telling of opening in summer '96. The manager, when attempted to gauge some financials, thought that earnings had already come out in July after I asked some about some of expectations with upcoming 8/5 announcement....I screwed up...maybe if I hadn't mentioned this I could have gotten more dirt..anyway, he told of not being at liberty to discuss much in the way of details, but indicated all looks pretty rosy with a smirk about earnings, both at DW and for quarterly, indicating likelihood that at the very least expectations are met. Also, obviously the DW RAIN isn't even close to really getting humming, and it already is a killer. Food was good...obviously same menu and prices as elsewhere. Unfortunately they ripped up my coupon prior to seating us. OTHER VERY INTERESTING NEWS: Heard through grapevine that through someone's discussion with Steven Schussler that an announcement of a different kind is due tomorrow at @5:30pm. Supposedly, not related to DW or quarterly earnings. When he was asked if this was to be like a 1,2,3 sweep, supposedly response was something more like 1-9 sweep. I don't like these kinds of rumors or speculations, but it all sounds extra promising for a company already poised. Just indicates that Monday may be the last day to get RAIN even at these prices, although will probably go up at least a little....as you so deduced, Dennis, it's interesting that certain companies seem to be "known of" prior to the actual announcements. Just might be that TUES brings far more upward motion than originally anticipated, so if still considering any more purchasing, now may be last mostly reasonable opportunity, at least for a while. BTW, Dennis. I didn't get to check out SHMN yet, but remember ATIS is the kind for future revenues, and although I think it's on the verge, it's not likely to be this quarter's announcement that does much, even though analysts seem to predict that this will be the first positive quarter. However, if you're looking to diversify, just keep those thoughts in mind while considering Stratosphere, as you may get more linked together more than you realize, although possibly a good opportunity is there. I'll get back to you later.

Marshall.....I hope the info doesn't cause any major decision making problems for anyone, just wanted to pass on what I heard. |
