I could live with bush if he would fess up to mistakes. I think kerry weak on fp. Is bush too macho in his language, sure but once again for me the cia report doesnt damage the case for war one iota, its the failure to adapt and admit once the situation you thought existed is proved not to. I wrote this to my son as to what bush should do friday when kerry brings up the cia report. I am interested in your response because though a man of the left, your brain has not ceased to function as some fellow leftists--DR. ID for example--brains regrettably have. Ditto for lindy billy and the boys. Here you go.

"Bush should use the debate to agree with CIA findings on wmds and stress the following:

1. Saddam was a maniac and deceived not only the intelligence agencies of the world but his own general staff per CIA findings thru interviews.
2. Kerry’s allies France and Germany participated in ignoring sanctions along with china and russia right up until and even during the war period. Of course they wouldn’t join the coalition he should say. Kerry french/german kiss ass not worthy of discussion as a solution to the current mess. etc etc
3. With no wmds to be found and sanctions fading fast, saddam clearly would have restarted his programs at some later date so the fact that he is gone is good regardless of difficult situation we now find ourselves in.
4. Iraqi scientists on the loose during saddam reign could have become employed by terrorists in the wild west atmosphere that existed in iraq back then. This is according to cia not me.
5. What to do from here should be discussed along with admission of faulty intel and errors emanating from it.

CONCLUSION re politics: American people can be very forgiving and have not bought into kerry as a replacement so a mea culpa genuine speech might guarantee a clear bush win. "

Of course the republicans never listen to me--they are reading the Lindy Bill/Rovian boys.
