I think the analogy should go like this: A group of people staying at any one of your neighbors' houses attacked you for no reason whatsoever. They have been staying in the neighborhood getting food and shelter at any number of houses. In addition, you find that the weapons they will be using against you and your family have and will become progressively worse. You have petitioned your local govt, and they have fined the offending families numerous times to no avail. You realize that the fence surrounding your yard doesn't seem to be keeping you as safe as you thought it would be. As a matter of fact the local gov't tells you to BE NICER and maybe everything will be ok. In addition, they counsel, the MEANER you are, the more danger you will face. You can either get your gun down and admit that this isn't Mr. Roger's neighborhood or not.

Not perfect, but you get the idea.

Man, how about you get a grip.
