CARMEL, Ind.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 27, 1997-- Conseco, Inc. (NYSE:CNC) today announced that John J. Sabl is joining the company as executive vice president, general counsel and secretary.
Sabl, 46, joins Conseco following a 20-year tenure with Sidley & Austin, one of the nation's largest law firms, where he has been a partner since 1983. His practice in the corporate and securities area has encompassed a wide variety of transactions, including public securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions and venture capital financings, as well as a broad range of major contracts, corporate governance and other matters.
"Conseco is determined to set new standards for performance in every market we serve," said Chairman Stephen C. Hilbert. "To accomplish that goal, we seek to attract the top-performing individuals in each of our key disciplines. John is just such an individual. As outside counsel on many Conseco transactions dating back to 1989, he has already been a significant part of Conseco's success. We've tapped his knowledge and skills in a broad range of activities, from the formation of our first investment partnership, to a number of public and private offerings and bank financings, as well as the initiation of our commercial paper program earlier this year. We are very pleased to welcome him to Conseco's executive management team."
Sabl earned an undergraduate degree in economics (with distinction) from Stanford University and a law degree from Stanford Law School, where he served as associate managing editor of the Stanford Law Review. He is a member of the American, California and Chicago Bar Associations and Phi Beta Kappa, and is a past chairman of the Chicago Bar Association's Securities Law Committee.
