I would guess that of all the parties involved it is the US and its coalition who is NOT telling the people what to think. If we were to pull out you can be almost assured that Iraq would become an Iranian puppet government which would be worse then having left Saddam in power from the USA viewpoint. I think the way this should be settled is to continue to train an Iraqi security force as rapidly as possible then withdraw our forces and use them mainly as BORDER security to keep outsiders OUT, and a strike force to bolster the Iraqi security with air and artillery support. I really think we are well along in this area and within a year should be able to accomplish that which I outline above. jdn
ie please dont think that Kerry knows ANYTHING about what it takes to train a force. Here, we put people through about 13 weeks of boot camp, then another 6 weeks of advanced infantry training, then YEARS of specialized training. We cant get them up to par in the specialized areas, which is why we need to bolster them, but we can get them through basic infantry training in 15 to 20 weeks. jdn
