Here's a petition I can vouch for; emailed directly to me from a former CEO of a Fortune 500 Company:

Hi,

I just signed this petition demanding to know how George Bush plans to avoid drafting a generation of young people to fight in Iraq.

George Bush is already drafting some people -- he is forcing soldiers to stay active beyond their commitments and ripping apart families by sending unprecedented numbers of National Guard and Reserves to occupy a foreign country.

He has been misleading us from the beginning -- about nuclear weapons, about the cost, and about the progress being made. George Bush has some explaining to do about how he will fix the mess he's made without asking this generation to make the sacrifice he dodged.

Join me and demand some answers:

Thanks!

And I appreciate that you think I am quite young. Thank you. I'll wager $100 I'm a decade your senior (my actual guess is that I am 13 years older than you). Some people stay relevant, vibrant, current, and involved as they age chronologically. And some people wither.

I don't disagree about your perceptions pertaining to professors. However, the differences between running a company and a nation are vast. Economic theory, be it Smith, Keynes, Veblen, trickle-down or Voelker is likely more relevant to gov't than Iacocca.
