Scott,
Political analysis 101 going into debate #3 which may be bushes last chance.
1. Edwards not Kerry won the debate in the sense that he came off as reasonably knowledgable to the indys and mods, and perhaps the comparison they were making was with bush in 2000. In that comparison, edwards fares well, particularly on the international front in terms of knowledge at that time. (bush 2000, edwards 2004)
2. Darth Vader apparently didnt calm the bush base after bushes horrible performance in debate #1. He actually had the opposite effect. What horrible things would befall us some may have asked if Dr. Death replaced Bush? The mean cheney did worse than the sweeter version that faced Joe Lieberman in 2000 and Edwards not going into the gutter to fight helped the dems as well.
3. Thus the polls keep moving in kerrys direction and the last chance to derail this growing momentum will come tonite. I keep reading about the CIA report. Again as in earlier posts Bush should embrace it and say he was duped by saddam along with all other intelligence agencies and all other leaders. The biggest point in the CIA reports is the perfidy of some of our allies and private companies who continued to supply saddam. The sanctions regime was fading and saddam was coming out of it with plenty of dough and plenty of allies to rearm so though he was not an imminent danger he certainly would become more dangerous in the following year to come--actually more dangerous than we might now imagine.
This is what bush needs to say to secure my vote. If he doesnt and just keeps repeating slogans and talking points, I will have to vote for Kerry and extrapolating others may do the same, ergo Pres Kerry. mike
