MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 8, 2004--FONAR Corporation (Nasdaq:FONR) , the MRI Specialist(TM), today announced the sale of an Upright(TM) MRI to
Radiology & Imaging Specialists, a multi-modality radiology center located in
Lakeland, Florida.
Roger Harriage, M.D., a board-certified radiologist and President of Radiology & Imaging Specialists, commented: "We chose the FONAR Upright(TM) MRI scanner
because it offers a unique ability to evaluate the spine in multiple positions.
This allows us to evaluate the spine with patients doing everyday activities
such as standing and bending. Other scanners are only able to image patients
lying on their backs. The Upright(TM) MRI is also able to accommodate larger
patients than conventional scanners. Finally, the issue of claustrophobia is
eliminated. With the FONAR Upright(TM) MRI, the patient is able to watch a 42-
inch wide screen TV while being evaluated."
Radiology & Imaging Specialists serves the community in and around Lakeland, FL, in five centers, including a dedicated Women's Center. Dr. Harriage further
commented on the purchase of the new Upright(TM) MRI: "I would like to add that

Earlier this quarter the Company changed the name of the FONAR Stand-Up(TM) MRI to the FONAR Upright(TM) MRI. Since the medical community has recognized the

and marketing initiatives by creating solid brand awareness.
