so he wasnt an imminent threat. So what-- we know that--old news. But he wasnt going to be neutered as you folks claim by continuing sanctions, cia report makes that clear. Saddam was off to the races and a year or down the road you would be screaming about how are intel didnt figure it out. You guys have no policy except to rap bush with 20/20 hindsight. Knowing what i know now per CIA report i am more happy than ever that saddam is gone. Doesnt solve our problems there at all but it serves as some justification for going in.
A republican operative friend of mine tells me the mistake was trying to nation build at all--we should have gone in, overthrown saddam, looked for wmds and left. We should have left the iraqis post saddam to sort things out. There was so much joy there at the beginning that if we made it clear there would be no occupation, the iraqis might have fashioned something that would have prevented this mess we are now in. I am not so sure but i thought this idea interesting and worth some debate. mike
