SC;

I've been looking at OCLI for about 9 months, and listened to the replay of the last conference call. It was, to me, a confusing call. I spoke to Sheila Ennis at H&Q, the analyst who covers OCLI, she wasn't even on the call, and does not have a good relationship with the company. However, H&Q does have a good banking relationship with OCLI (or so I've been told).

On the numbers I think OCLI is cheap, but I dont own any yet.

Why? The problems at OCLI seem to be production related. The machinery and processes are extremely complex and even with very very smart people they do have trouble. (Reminds me of KMAG)

Another problem is the SICPA/FLEX situation. SICPA is in receivership in Switzerland and OCLI would like to buy their stake in FLEX back (according to CFO). They are proposing a bizarre financing for FLEX (a bond + OCLI warrant deal) that while I dont have the details sounds like it is not in our best interests as shareholders.

Finally, the BASF litigation may be an unnecessary distraction for management.

Anyway, that's my input on OCLI. As for the gratings, Joe Strauss at JDS Fitel told me that Gratings could become very important, eclipsing filters in time.

Later;
Joe
