The French contribution to the crisis in Darfur has been minimal. It is aimed solely toward preventing instability and protecting its economic and political interests in its former colony of Chad. It has sent no rpt no troops or logistical airlift across the border to help in the AU's monitoring efforts in Darfur. Its contributionms to the UN's plea for funds has been minimal as well and it has played a passive role in UN security council efforts, spearheaded by the US, to obtain strong sanctions against the Khartoum government. The EU hasn't distinguished itself either in coming to the assistance of the black Moslems of Darfur who continue today to be subjected to the village-leveling assaults of the Khartoum-supported Arab Janjaweed marauders.
