You're mixing two things here. Whatever the reasons countries had for not supporting the war in the first place, that is water under the bridge.
My discussion first centered on why other countries did not join as part of an indictment on the current adminstration's decision to invade Iraq -- this is not water under the bridge, it is core to the issue of whether Bush deserves 4 more years.
In my view, he does not.
But unfortunately, I am not sure any and every President would have put troops into Afghanistan as quickly
I am quite sure that any president would have acted quickly. If we remember the times... people from other countries were lining up to help. Old geezers like me (in my 40's) were thinking about whether the right thing to do would be to go to war ourselves. A fleeting thought for me to be sure but I had such thoughts. The effort was sanctioned, moral, had universal support from the world.
No, there is no doubt that retaliation and flushing out would happen quickly. Speculation in media about temperature and holiday seasons was just that... idle chatter for us television watchers, a blip in the plan for the military.
Were all the tech companies which failed run by dummies too?
Quite a few, yes, since you asked. I've reviewed many a poor business plan, seen many companies execute poorly. There were tons of failures that were by and large the fault of the entrepreneurs, not some tech bubble.
If Bush could not run a successful oil company in an oil driven economy like ours, then there are smarter oil company execs out there we should perhaps turn to...
I'll admit my last comment on GW was more in humour than to make a political point.
But for F 9/11 movie watchers, let me state this: I am not a Moore follower, but I do, as a conservative, find all the connections between the Bush family, Bin Ladens and Saudi royals very troubling. I don't for a second believe that the Bush family condones what happened but business interests such as theirs have a habit of preventing people from doing the right thing -- or at least slowing down the process of doing the right thing. |
